As a newspaper reporter who writes about personal finance issues, including the high cost of college, and workplace issues, including the job searches of new college graduates, I more than welcomed the opportunity for my new high school graduate daughter to take the online, quick and easy -- but very thorough -- Birkman assessment. My daughter thought she had an interest in pursuing a career in social work and the assessment confirmed as much, revealing an interest in a career that makes a difference. She also tested strongly in the more lucrative sales and related fields, and in management: avenues that she unequivocally should consider. Executive Coach Donna Miller detailed Jess’ strengths and weaknesses, including the ideal workplaces and bosses in and under which she’d thrive. Because of the Birkman, I feel that Jess more boldly can pursue a degree in social work and as a parent, feel way more confident in this professional assessment versus those offered in high school or on college campuses. A nice secondary benefit is that Donna compared and contrasted my own Birkman assessment with my daughter’s, noting our respective idiosyncrasies of which we should be aware for a more harmonious mother-daughter relationship. I wholeheartedly recommend the assessment.
